Start with Search: Find artists, albums and songs

Open the sidebar menu and click  Search to search the entire CONNECT database.

There are two ways to search: by keyword (default option) or by ID.

Keyword search is enabled by default. Start typing keywords in the search bar and suggested results will appear based on popularity, relevance and your selected location.

Search results are grouped by category. Top Results collects the best and most popular matches for your keyword(s). Scroll down to see Artist, Song and Release Group matches.

Click See All > to view all results as a scrollable list.

Tip: Narrow your search with multiple keywords

Even with an exact title match, your desired result might not appear on the first page.

If you want to find Amy Winehouse’s debut album and search for “Frank,” that album won’t populate under Top Results or Release Groups—after all, there are a lot of Franks in the recording industry.

Try a combination or string of keywords to refine your search, such as “Frank Amy Winehouse.”

ID Search

Toggle the ID Search tab under the search bar to search by Luminate ID, ISRC or any other ID type in our database.

What IDs can I search?

CONNECT compiles many different identifiers and product codes. These include Luminate IDs, legacy Music Connect IDs, platform IDs and industry standard codes like ISRC and ICPN.

ID Search works with every ID type in our database. You don't need to specify the ID type. If you have ID Search on, you can simply paste in the alphanumeric identifier to find the matching entry.

Go to: ISRC, ICPN, ISNI: External IDs and product codes

If you have a valid ID for the artist, song or release you want to find, paste that code into the search bar to get to the Dashboard. For instance, if you know the ICPN for the 2024 vinyl reissue of “Frank,” an ID Search brings up the main Album (Release Group) Dashboard.

Searching by ISRC returns the higher-level Song Dashboard, not the specific Recording Dashboard. The same goes for ICPNs/Products within a Release Group.

Go to the Song Dashboard or Release Group Dashboard as shown above, then scroll to the bottom to find your recording or release by ID.

Search FAQs

CONNECT keyword search supports full and partial artist names, album titles and song titles.

You can also search by band name (for artists that are part of a group), alternate artist names and aliases.

What determines search result order?

Keyword search results are ordered based on a popularity score we derive from ATD streams.

Even with a keyword match, items with fewer cumulative streams may not appear as top search results. Use ID Search for more precision.

ID Search supports multiple types of IDs and product codes for artists, songs and release groups.

Every entity has a unique Luminate ID. In addition, you can search by ISRC, ICPN, ISNI, legacy Music Connect IDs, provider IDs (Apple, Spotify) and database IDs (Gracenote, etc). Learn more about supported ID types here

On any Dashboard, go to MORE DETAILS > EXTERNAL IDs to see all the IDs we have on file for that entity. An ID Search for any of these should direct you back to the same Dashboard.

Why are all of my ID searches failing?

A browser window that’s too narrow, too low-resolution or too zoomed in may cause ID searches to fail. Increase the width of your browser window.

Double-check the ID you wish to search. Or use a keyword search to find the right Dashboard and cross-check your ID (MORE DETAILS > EXTERNAL IDs).

How do I find the Dashboard for an ISRC/ICPN/barcode if I don’t know the title?

Toggle on ID Search to find the Song and Release Group Dashboards associated with ISRC (Recording) and ICPN (Product) codes.

Any ID Search brings up the main Song or Release Group Dashboard. Visit that Dashboard to find the ICPN or ISRC listed under Products or Recordings.

My ISRC search returned the higher-level Song Dashboard. How do I get to the exact Recording Dashboard?

All ID Searches, even for ISRCs and ICPNs, return higher-level Song or Release Group Dashboards. Search results don’t break out Recordings and Products.

Perform an ID Search with an ISRC to find the right Song Dashboard. Then scroll down to Recordings to find your ISRC.
