About Luminate Insights

What do you do?

Luminate Insights performs global consumer and market research focused on entertainment (music, film and TV). We perform quarterly and yearly studies, publish original reports, maintain syndicated research dashboards and offer custom consulting services.

What kinds of custom research / consulting do you offer?

We perform original research on any topic related to global consumer preferences and behavior, with a focus on entertainment fandom (music, TV, film, podcasts, etc). We design custom research studies (e.g. audience surveys), leverage first-party entertainment data and perform quantitative analyses.

How do I schedule a consulting engagement / custom research project?

Use the Insights contact form to inquire about consultative services. A Sales team member will get in touch.

Is Luminate Insights related to Nielsen?

Luminate’s Insights team was previously part of Nielsen Research. The Insights group joined the newly-launched Luminate brand in 2022.

Is Luminate Insights the same as Luminate CONNECT / Music Connect / SV(M)?

No. Luminate Insights performs original market research into consumer behavior and preferences. Luminate CONNECT and SV(M) are software platforms that aggregate consumption data related to music and film/TV streaming.

All of the above services are part of the Luminate brand, but CONNECT and SV(M) require their own subscriptions. Contact Luminate Music to learn more or request a demo.

Can I use a Luminate Data login for Insights content?

No. Insights Research Dashboards require a Displayr account. (If you’re new to Insights, we’ll set you up with Displayr login credentials). Your Luminate Data or MRC login does not automatically grant access to Displayr.

Studies and Reports

What recurring studies do you publish?

We publish large-scale recurring studies throughout the year. The following are released in standard formats on a yearly or quarterly basis:

  1. Artist + Genre Tracker
  2. U.S. Music 360
  3. Entertainment 365
  4. Global Music 360
    1. Global Music 360 countries are surveyed yearly and grouped into three regional sets; we release yearly data for one set at a time in Q1, Q2 and Q3.

How often do you release your reports?

Every year in Q3, we release a U.S. Landscape report examining year-over-year changes in the United States music industry.

Additionally, we develop quarterly industry reports on international regions. We include different regions and countries each quarter.

What countries do you collect data in?
As of 2025, we collect Music 360 data in the following markets, released quarterly throughout the year:
  1. Every quarter: Artist + Genre Tracker, Entertainment 365, U.S. Music 360
  2. Q1: Canada, U.K., Italy, Germany, France
  3. Q2: Japan, India, Australia, China
  4. Q3: Mexico, Brazil, UAE, Saudi Arabia

Are other locations available for the Music 360 study?

Yes. We can add countries to our Global Music 360 group. Contact lchicles@luminatedata.com to request a new market.

How can I see the studies or access the data?

Our recurring studies are available as interactive Research Dashboards via Displayr. Go to app.displayr.com and log in see your subscribed dashboards.

How do I get a Displayr account with dashboard access?

Each Research Dashboard requires a subscription (via Luminate) and a Displayr account. Once you’re subscribed, we’ll set you up with Displayr.

Contact us or speak to your Luminate representative to discuss new subscriptions.

Can I get reports in PDF format instead?

Yes. Contact us to request PDF-formatted reports.

Can I request artists to be included in the Artist + Genre Tracker?

Yes. If you subscribe to the Artist + Genre Tracker, you can contact your Luminate representative to request new artists (and genres) to be included in our next wave of surveys.

Can I request custom survey content or new questions to be added to a study?

Yes. If you subscribe to any of our Research Dashboards, we want your input. Contact your Luminate representative to request new questions or other additions to ongoing research studies.

Surveys are constrained by time limits and scheduling; we will work with you to determine the soonest that your requests can be accommodated. We will notify you when we add your content to an upcoming survey wave and let you know when you can expect the results.

What other content do you publish?

In addition to our recurring studies, we develop focused Intelligence Reports on specific audiences, demographics, markets and topics. We publish custom Intelligence Reports as one-offs throughout the year.

Research Dashboards

Where can I see all of my Research Dashboards?

Go to app.displayr.com and log in. You’ll see all your subscribed Research Dashboards as folders on the Home page.

Expand the folder icons to see the Dashboard module(s) for each report.

I can’t log in to Displayr / I forgot my password.

Click “Forgot Password?” and follow the password reset steps. Make sure you use the email you or your organization registered with.

If you don’t receive a password reset email, contact lchicles@luminatedata.com.

I don’t see all the dashboards I’m subscribed to.

If you think you should have access to a Research Dashboard, but don’t see it on your Displayr Home page, talk to your Luminate representative or email lchicles@luminatedata.com

Why does a Dashboard look broken after I apply a filter?

The page may have been open for too long. Refresh the page and re-select your filters.

If the sample size is below 30 respondents with filters applied, the data becomes unstable and unusable. Try removing filters to make your sample size larger.

Some questions were asked to different waves of survey respondents; your filters might be counteracting each other.

Ex. if you select an artist that was included in Wave 1 and a question from Wave 3, you won’t see any results.
