Troubleshooting music registration and reporting

Having trouble submitting registration forms? Unsure how to proceed with your data provider application? Read on for a list of common problems and our recommended solutions.

Back to Registration and Reporting

Registering music

I don’t know the ISRC/ICPN for my submission.

We only accept registration of Recordings (with an ISRC) and Products (with an ICPN). You cannot register a Recording or Product without the proper ID.

Learn more about acceptable IDs here

What’s the track number for an ISRC?

Track number refers to the position of the Recording (Song) on an album. Enter #1, #2, #3 etc. for the position of the track relative to the rest of the album.

For singles or standalone tracks, enter #1.

How should I format song and album titles for different versions?

Short answer: Keep the full official song or album title as a “base” title and add any other information in (parentheses) or [brackets].

Long answer: review our title merge guidelines.

Can I submit track #s or “Untitled” as song titles?

No. Please do not enter Track 01, Track 02, Untitled 01, or similar as song titles. This impedes sorting and tracking for those recordings and products. See Title guidelines for a full explanation.

What if I don’t want to reveal song or album titles early?

CONNECT hides pre-release content. If an album is in pre-release and/or song titles are not yet public, they won’t be exposed in the app. Please enter the official song and album titles on our forms (with accurate product release dates, of course).

What genre should I select?

Choose a Main Genre that you think fits your submission from the list of Billboard core genres. Billboard chart managers will review your submission and add additional genres or subgenres if needed.

Note that Billboard makes all final decisions on genre for chart purposes.

My registration form won’t submit.

Make sure you’ve filled out all required fields. If a field does not apply to your musical entity, write “n/a.”

Clear your cache or open a private browsing session, then try the form(s) again.

The form won’t accept my phone number.

Enter all phone numbers in XXX-XXX-XXXX format.

I haven’t received a response to my submission.

Our Music Operations team might reach out with follow-up questions; if not, your submission might already be published in CONNECT.

I’m not sure if the entity I registered is in CONNECT yet.

CONNECT subscribers can search by ISRC or ICPN to find submission(s). Go to Search, toggle on ID Search, and paste the ID you registered.

If your registration was successful, you’ll see the Song or Release Group Dashboard in the search results.

An entity I registered has a title or release date error in CONNECT.

Submit a data correction or contact Luminate Operations at music.referencedata@luminatedata.com.

An entity I registered is orphaned/not mapped to the right Artist Dashboard.

Often, this is due to bad artist name formatting or incorrect Main Artist, Featured Artist, Collaboration and/or Remix Artist attribution. CONNECT only groups or “merges” recordings with the same Main Artist(s). See Title guidelines > Artist matching for details.

If the artist is not in our database yet, you can register a new artist using our form.

I don’t subscribe to CONNECT and want to verify my submission.

If you're not a subscriber, email Music.Support@luminatedata.com with the artist name, release title and ISRC or ICPN you submitted. We will confirm your registration via email.
